Dimitrakis Millas

Dimitrakis Millas was born in Thiramona, Cephalonia. The exact date of his birth (from a document of the Male Registration archive, in the community of Chionata Kefallonias) is the year 1852 and he died in Braila on 08/16/1939.

He was raised in a wealthy family of merchants, in the field of flour industry.

In 1870 he married Pigi, the granddaughter of the most important trader of cereals Panayi Lykiardopoulou. Unfortunately, his wife died after the birth of their daughter. So, he decided to name his only daughter after her mother, Pigi. In 1879 along with his father John, he launched one of the 5 most modern flour mills in Romania in the area of Braila.

After his death, Dimitrakis Millas offered all his fortune to his birthplace for educational and social purposes. Through his will, he bade us an eternal fairwell underlining his love for his birthplace and blessed us with his last breath.
